FUEL TANK BASICS
When installed with a diesel generator, a fuel tank must satisfy its primary purpose of providing a reliable supply of clean fuel to the engine. This may be stating the obvious, but it is sometimes overlooked when the fuel system becomes complex with tanks, fuel coolers, strainers, valves, catch basins, vents, supply pumps, return pumps and the other components required or desired by the designer. This article will provide a primer on the basics of fuel tank design.
